I feel that many people who run for office feel that if they can just proclaim their views with enough passion and volume that others with the opposite opinion will switch sides and agree with them and the world will change to their liking.

In both my personal and professional life, I have never seen people to work that way. Trying to enact or stop the enacting of laws in this way seems to be the cause of most of the problems in government today.

In my work life as a dentist, I frequently encounter people that , for example, want me to take out a tooth without getting them "numb". In my younger days, I may have tried to argue with them, but it rarely worked and usually escalated tempers instead of calming the situation so that we could take care of the problem as best as possible. This may seem like a trivial example, but I think the skills I have developed both at home and at work could be very valuable in Lansing. I think we need more legislators with skills promoted by Dale Carnegie and less  of those  of Geoffrey Fieger.
